| Centering Youth Voice in a Time of Change Thank you for being part of the League of Education Voters (LEV) community! As students across Washington state return to school, LEV’s Field Team is once again connecting with students, families, educators, and community leaders to understand how ongoing funding challenges are affecting our K–12 system and the communities we serve. These conversations are more urgent than ever, as many nonprofits and school-based programs face significant budget cuts and shifting priorities. We’re excited to invite you to our Youth Advocacy Summit on Saturday, November 1st at Gonzaga University in Spokane. Co-hosted by LEV, the Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL), and youth leaders from across the state, this free event is designed by youth, for youth. This year’s theme is “Using Your Voice to Get Into Some Good Trouble.” Join us to hear directly from students about their lived experiences, the issues they care about, and their visions for the future. Whether you're a student, parent, educator, or community member, your presence helps amplify youth voices and build collective momentum for change. Register here. Special thanks to College Spark Washington and True Measure Collaborative for making this event possible. Read more about our work below. |

| Upcoming LEVinar: From Promise to Progress: Revisiting Educational Opportunity Gaps in Washington state In 2008, landmark studies conducted by the Commission on African American Affairs (CAAA), the Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA), and the Commission on Hispanic Affairs (CHA) laid the foundation for the creation of OSPI’s Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC). Since then, the EOGOAC has played a pivotal role in addressing systemic inequities in Washington’s education system. Now, nearly two decades later, the Washington state Legislature tasked these same commissions with conducting a follow-up study to assess progress and identify persistent and emerging gaps. This free webinar on Thursday, October 2 at 12:30 pm will provide historical context, share the intent and scope of the current study, and outline what’s ahead after the commissions released their findings this past June. Join María Á. Sigüenza (CHA), Ed Prince (CAAA), and Nam Nguyen (CAPAA) for a conversation about the legacy of the 2008 reports, the evolution of educational equity efforts, and the importance of the most up-to-date research to inform future policy and community action. |
