Help Every Washington Student Feel Safe, Supported, and a Positive Sense of Belonging

Thank you for being part of the League of Education Voters (LEV) community!

We are just over halfway through the 2025 Washington state Legislative Session, and League of Education Voters is working in Olympia on our top priorities for students, such as mental health supports, support for students with disabilities, and equitable education funding. Read our 2025 Legislative Platform to learn more.

Also, the Washington state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) is in the process of rulemaking for state regulations around how schools discipline students. Unlike state laws and policies, rules are written by state agencies like OSPI to define how laws are carried out in schools statewide. These new rules will determine how schools handle student behavior, when students can be removed from class, and what rights families have. So far, there have been limited opportunities for meaningful input in this process, but now is the chance for the public to weigh in. Share your voice and push for fairer, more supportive discipline policies.

LEV Blog: Understanding Washington state’s Complex K-12 Funding Structures

A top priority for many legislators in the 2025 Washington state legislative session is to take steps to address the education funding challenges many school districts are experiencing across Washington. Given Washington’s complex funding system, it can be challenging to understand how legislative proposals may impact districts differently. To help identify how key structures of our funding system work and to build understanding of how student needs impact state K-12 funding, League of Education Voters has created some materials to answer common questions and break down Washington’s complex K-12 funding structures.
